Help for new parents and couples having a baby

Having a new baby is a time of huge change. This can have a big impact on a couple’s relationship.

There are things you can do that will help you feel stronger and ready to deal with disagreements and arguments – see our Top Tips to help you stay calm during disagreements or arguments page.

Health Visitor

Your Health Visitor will help you while you prepare for your baby coming and once they arrive. Talk to them if you are worried about your relationship and they will be able to support you to find help.

Family Hubs

Your local council will have a Family Hub, which brings together council and health services under one roof. Depending on where you live, there may be one hub or lots of hubs across the area offering you advice, courses and classes from before your baby is born and then throughout their childhood. These often include relationship advice and information on how to cope when a new baby arrives. Some Family Hubs also offer information and courses online as well as virtual support.
